How to commission a drawing

I don't just copy what I see on a photograph, but I also strive to really capture that animal's personality. To begin the commission process, a reference photo(s)  is needed to draw from. Photographs that are in focus and have good lighting are the best to draw from and allows me to capture detail. I often ask for multiple photos that show case the animal's personality. I keep in contact with the client about which pictures to use and any modifications they may want (ie. omitting tack/collars, position of ears, making an uneven mane even, etc.)  I also ask for as much information about the animal as possible such as breed, personality, and most importantly, what makes that animal so special to the owner.  I will e-mail a rough sketch so the client can approve of the shape, proportions and orientation of the subject and whenever possible will send updates as I go along. I want the client to be as involved in the process as possible.

I do ask for 50% upfront before I begin.  The other 50% can be paid upon completion before I ship the drawing/painting out.  When I have a lot of orders at once, I do them in the order that people have paid me.

I accept both pay pal and personal check/money order.

I am also often willing to trade for other goods or services of equal value, so if you offer something I may want/need, let me know and we can work something out.
